In Carlisle in the 2016 referendum Carlisle voted 60 per cent to 40 per cent in favour of Leave.
Recently in Market Square, Carlisle, People's Vote volunteers tested support for the Brexit negotiations and for a People's Vote.
The results are startling. Carlisle people are saying that Brexit negotiations are going very poorly. They believe Brexit is going to be bad for the NHS and bad for Carlisle by 5:1.
Significantly they are saying by 2:1 that they favour a People's Vote on the final deal negotiated by Theresa May's government.
We have found similar votes in towns and cities around the country.
In early November the Prime Minister will be bringing the conclusions of her negotiations on Brexit with the EU to the British Parliament. If Parliament rejects
her recommendations then we believe the final choice on our future must be made by the people themselves in a further vote.
The politicians have failed. Whatever the result the country then needs to move on but we need to make sure we are heading in the right direction.
We will be doing People's Choice sessions in every main town in Cumbria. The event in Kendal is on September 22.
