The Herdwyck Consort singers
A CONCERT to raise money for St John’s Church, Levens, is to be held at the church on Sunday, September 16, at 5pm.
The Herdwyck Consort, a group of nine singers from all over Cumbria, will be performing a programme of bird-related vocal music, called Dainty Fine Byrd - from bluebirds to owls, doves, swallows and nightingales, as well as the music of the great English composer William Byrd.
The singers specialise in unaccompanied vocal pieces, and much of their music is from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, with their repertoire described as "broad and imaginative".
