SEDBERGH School has opened overseas and welcomed its first cohort of pupils to its Rong Qiao site.

Located in Binhai New City - a high-tech development area just 50 minutes from Fuzhou city centre - the school will provide four phases of education for children aged three to 19. Boarding facilities for 1,540 pupils between the ages of six and 18 are in build.

The school site covers 16 hectares and will provide four phases of education. Each phase enjoys dedicated facilities including libraries, science laboratories, art and technology facilities, and will have access to indoor stadiums, swimming pools, theatres and playgrounds. Chinese Culture will be taught in a dedicated centre.

Sedbergh School International is advising the Rong QiaoGroup who have built, own and operate the school.

Teachers from Sedbergh School have worked closely with their counterparts in Fuzhou, providing training and professional support whilst seven pupils from the new school studied science at Sedbergh during August in preparation for beginning GCSE courses in September.

Sedbergh will continue to assist in recruiting staff for the new school in preparation for its expansion next year and beyond.
