A SILVER dress hook discovered by a member of the Kendal Metal Detecting Club has been classed as a treasure by coroners in Lancaster.
Dating back to the 16th century, the small silver dress hook would have been part of a set and similar items have been depicted in portraits painted in Tudor times.
Martin Head, of Carnforth, made the find in March in ploughed farmland at Wray, near Lancaster.
Mr Head, who usually goes out metal detecting twice a month, said: "I have found numerous coins over the years, but I have never come across anything classed as a treasure before.".
