THE Westmorland Gazette has long championed litter removal within the town.
Recently I removed numerous bags of rubbish from within the town boundary. I have no doubt the majority of litter is thrown from vehicles. In a short distance from the Morrisons junction to the Enterprise House lay-by on Shap Road I removed 12 bags of rubbish. This is one of Kendal’s worst "grot spots".
Another is the riverside from Romney Bridge to Scroggs Wood where I removed two bags. To a lesser degree even our premier viewpoint - Kendal Castle - suffers along with our finest park, Abbot Hall.
We are entering a new decade. As a community we should take pride in our environs, the finest in the North of England, and act if we see individuals littering, to keep our locality free from this scourge. It is our problem and we should deal with it.
