A man from Kendal has been sentenced today for possession with intent to supply of a Class B substance.

Alex Lightley, 19, of Lound Road, Kendal was sentenced to 12 months at South Cumbria Magistrates Court.

Officers arrested Mr Lightley at a garage on Wasdale Close towards the end of last month.

After searching the garage, a bag was found underneath Mr Lightley's bed. It contained 15 snap bags of cannabis and a rock of grey substance, which was later identified as MDMA.

The recovered drugs were valued at £300.

Detective Constable Chris Appleyard said:

“This is a great result and I hope it acts as a deterrent to others. And that it sends out a strong message about the consequences of dealing drugs in Cumbria.

“Drug supply has a negative effect on the community and we will continue to target both individuals and groups who believe they can supply drugs in the local area.”

Anyone with information on drug supply can contact Cumbria Police on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
