FOR most people Christmas is a time for family, fun and happiness - but for those at the hands of an abusive partner it can be one of the worst times of the year.
So as the festive season gets under way, reporter Lisa Higginson takes a look at the reality of domestic violence.
She finds out what services are available for sufferers and talks to a victim of what remains one of the most under-reported violent crimes in Cumbria.
