POLICE are warning cyclists to keep their bikes secure after a spate of thefts in South Lakeland.
According to police, 17 cycles were stolen from the Kendal area between January 2 and February 27 and of those, 14 were insecure.
Crime prevention manager Terry Belshaw urged cycle owners to keep their machines safe.
"If you leave your bike unsecured it doesn't matter if it's in a garden or on the back of a car it is at risk. Bikes are often very expensive so it is up to owners not to make it easy for thieves," said Mr Belshaw.
