Leading Liberal Democrat switches to Conservatives

Leading South Lakeland Liberal Democrat district councillor Rob Cocker has today joined the Conservative Party and the Conservative group on SLDC.

Coun Cocker represents Kendal Kirkland and is a campaigner for inward investment in Kendal.

Coun Cocker said he had not taken his decision lightly and added that the Conservative party was the only party that "truly represented" his views and had a strong green agenda.

As a Conservative supporter myslf, but not a paying member, I would like to congratulate Mr Cocker for his bold decision. Could he please try to persuade a few more of his colleagues around the country to do the same thing and then we could build a sufficient majority to kick this awful Labour Government out of office for a generation?

Mr Foan. No need these days to become a 'full blown' Member of the Conservative Party. Just recently launched is the opportunity to 'Become a Friend of The Party' and keep up to date with what the Government in Waiting is doing and plans to do to get the nation out of this dreadful mess !

Given that the Conservative party has no clear policies, I'm not sure what their "strong Green agenda" is!
If the Conservatives are the only party who represent his views, perhaps he should have decided that before he became an elected representative for another party.
