CHILDREN at a Kendal school have been dressing up in cosmopolitan costumes as part of a special project highlighting cultures across the globe.

Stramongate School held a week-long International Festival to celebrate its links with other countries, which included a variety of themed activities including food-tasting, music-making and going on a round-the-world trip from classroom to classroom learning about a different countries along the way.

The event culminated in an international costume event during which the children dresses up in various national clothes from American cowboy outfits to Indian saris.

Head teacher Michael Poole said: "We had a great week and everyone including the children, parents and teachers put in a lot of effort. It was good fun and everyone was very creative."
