IT'S party time at Kendal Rugby Club tomorrow (Saturday) as the newly-crowned North Division One champions parade their skills before the home fans for the last time this season.

The title was won with a narrow victory at Altrincham Kersal last weekend, but tomorrow the trophy will be presented at the end Kendal's final league match of the season against Sheffield Tigers.

The match will see Kendal pressing on with the aim of completing the league campaign with a 100 per cent winning record, a feat that has been achieved only twice before.

In the 2000/200 season Darlington Mowden Park were unbeaten, but played only 20 games because of foot-and-mouth disease restrictions, while Tynedale won all 22 of their encounters in 1999/2000.

On Saturday Kendal are bound to be roared on by a large celebratory crowd as they strive to tame the Tigers in a Tenon Group-sponsored match at Mint Bridge.

Mid-table Sheffield will be no pushovers, however, and Kendal will probably have to play better than they did when they sneaked a late win at Altrincham.

The home side also go into the match with a new half-back pairing. Star fly-half and kicker Dan Stephens is recovering from tonsillitis and is on the bench, so Kiwi Hoani Moore, who has played most of the season at full-back, takes the No.10 shirt.

Prop Billy Coxon who played a major role in turning the game around when he came on as a replacement last week, starts against Sheffield while the other front-row stalwart Richard Harryman is a replacement.

Although determined to go up to National League Three as unbeaten champions of the North, holders Kendal also have half an eye on the Story Cumbria Cup final the following weekend.

Aspatria will be the opposition for the final, at Penrith Rugby Club, on Saturday, April 26.

The kick-off is at 3pm and a supporters' coach, at £5 a person, will leave Kendal Rugby Club at 1pm and is scheduled to arrive back in Kendal at 7pm.

To book a seat contact Ron Hayes on 01539 721944.

Backs: J. Gough, H. Moore; I. Voortman (captain), B. Ashley; L. Ladell, C. Park, J. Ladell.
