Water is vital to keep our bodies healthy, it makes up two thirds of our body weight and the level needs to be topped up constantly to avoid dehydration.
If it's a hot day or you're particularly active you will need to drink more, but don't overdo it, drinking too much can have serious consequences.

Headaches, poor concentration, tiredness, dry eyes and dry skin are all symptoms of dehydration, in severe cases it can lead to problems with kidneys, liver, muscles and joints.
If you feel thirsty you're probably already dehydrated. Avoid this by drinking small amounts regularly, throughout the day. An easy check is to look at the colour of your urine, it should be pale, like the colour of straw, any darker and you need to drink more.
Other benefits of staying hydrated are firmer, plumper skin, less spots and you may even look years younger. Depending on your size, activity level, the weather and the environment you work generally 1.2 litres of water per day are recommended.
