THE new mayor of Ulverston has been welcomed into her post by fellow town councillors this evening (Monday).
Janette Jenkinson takes over the chains of office from Brenda Marr, who remains on the council, while long-serving councillor Norman Bishop-Rowe was voted in as the new deputy mayor.
Mrs Jenkinson, who is now in her second term as mayor, said: "We are at the start of a new term of office and at the start of what I believe to be an intersting and exciting time for town and parish councils.
"We have a lot to do - let us get on with it."
