Woman dies in A590 crash

A WOMAN died when a car and a van collided on a South Lakeland road.
The crash occurred on the A590 at Millside near Levens at around 5.15pm on Wednesday and involved a Nissan Micra, which was travelling in a westbound direction, and a Ford Transit Van.
The driver of the Micra, a woman, had to be cut from her car by firefighters before being airlifted to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where she later died.
Two men from the van were also taken to RLI for treatment.
Anyone with information is being asked to call PC Carl Walsh at Ulverston Road Policing Unit on 0845-3300-247.
