POLICE in South Lakeland are showing their commitment to fighting drugs crime this week.
National Drugs Week runs until Friday, and Ulverston's neighbourhood police team will be out with a passive drug dog to identify potential drugs misuse and supply in the town's pubs and clubs.
South Cumbria police commander, chief supt Paul Kennedy, said: "Our policing operations recently have shown that we do not tolerate drug dealers in our area and that the courts are ready to hand out substantial prison sentences to people who supply these drugs."
Between April 2007 and March 2008, 184 people were arrested in South Cumbria for drugs offences, with the total amount of Class A drugs seized worth approximately £180,000.
