EMERGENCY services were called to deal with a fairground lorry which caught fire on the A590.
The incident occurred on the westbound carriageway at Lindale Hill near Grange-over-Sands at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters from Grange attended the fire and extinguished it using a hose reel.
Police closed the westbound carriageway while the fire was being dealt with and all traffic was diverted through Lindale village.
The road was fully reopened to traffic at around 5.20pm.
