PLANS to scrap a residential unit for people with dementia in Ulverston have been unveiled by Cumbria Primary Care Trust.
The move is one of many changes to the future of Cumbria’s mental health services which are the subject of a three month public consultation.
The PCT wants to close Gill Rise – a 20 bed centre on Stanley Street – and send its residents to Barrow in the hope of centralising expert care.
Members of the public can have their say on the changes at public meetings in Ulverston on July 3, at The Coronation Hall, and in Kendal on July 9, in the Town Hall. Both events will run from 2-5pm with a question and answer session at 3pm.
