OVERNIGHT road marking works are set to start on the A590 between Gilpin Bridge and Witherslack from Monday (July 21).
The works will mean a 40mph speed restriction being introduced on a 5.3 kilometre stretch of carriageway from Gilpin Bridge junction to Meathop Roundabout.
However, the Highways Agency says it will also be necessary to occasionally impose a 10mph speed restriction through the works area, when traffic will also be escorted by a highway maintenance vehicle.
Highways Agency project manager Peter Hamer said: “We are carrying out this essential work for safety reasons as the existing carriageway markings and road studs are losing their reflectivity from general wear and tear.”
The work should be completed by August 2.
