Councillors claim thousands in expenses

DETAILS of councillors’ expenses have been released by Cumbria County Council today.

Council leader Tim Stoddard, who represents Kirkby Stephen, has claimed the most with £39,304.01.

All councillors are entitled to a basic allowance of £7,815 a year, but some are allowed more to cover extra responsibilities. They can also claim for travel and accommodation expenses.
