A CAMPAIGN calling upon the government to provide more affordable housing, protect vulnerable people and end the housing divide has been embraced across Cumbria.

At the Shelter office in Kendal, staff and clients from the UK’s leading housing and homelessness charity donned campaign t-shirts and waved placards stating “Now is the Time” to tackle the housing crisis.

The Now is the Time Campaign is a direct response to a recent YouGov survey, which revealed that almost 250,000 households across the northwest are constantly struggling or falling behind with their rent or mortgage payments, with many sacrificing food and borrowing from friends in order to keep a roof over their heads.

To join the campaign visit www.shelter.org.uk/nowisthetime or simply pop into the Kendal office at 10 Kent Street and sign the petition.
