A CATALOGUE superstore has been awarded a special prize in recognition of its charity fundraising efforts.
Argos Kendal received the runner-up Tom Banana Award after raising £4,600 for Leukaemia Research.
The store organised an indoor 500-mile exercise bike ride, which alone raised over £2,000, and last December added a further £1,300 to the tally after staff donated their Christmas party funds.
Store manager, James Nelson, said: “I’m so proud of the team here. They really took ownership of fundraising events and got so involved. I’d also like to thank our customers for their generous support.
Argos staff nationwide have helped raise over £800,000 for Leukaemia Research. The Kendal store dedicated their special award to former staff member, Chris Read, who sadly died recently.
