A KENDAL accountant has raised £4,100 for charity after cycling the length of the country in memory of her late mother.
Judith Robinson, a corporate senior accountant for Moore and Smalley on Murley Moss business village, rode from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Ms Robinson was joined by friends, Godfrey Maetcalfe and Nick Millward, who together formed Team Whitewell.
Ms Robinson’s mother, Phyllis, sadly died of cancer last August. The cycling trio’s name derives from Whitewell Church, where Phyllis was secretary for a number of years.
“I hadn’t sat on a bike since I was about 18,” said Ms Robinson, “so the two week ride was challenging but we all kept or spirits up and I can honestly say I can only look back on the trip with fond memories.
“I cannot thank the people enough for all the money being donated. The Macmillan fund is such a worthwhile cause and helps thousands of families every day.”
