Country fair showcases Lakeland life

“JUST about everything” was on offer at an ever-popular event as the show season in South Lakeland kicks into gear.
Coniston Country Fair drew in crowds of about 2,500 people who witnessed a wide range of activities on the shores of Coniston Water at Coniston Hall.
Among the activities on the day were the Herdwick sheep show, ferret racing, gun dog demonstrations, pet shows and, of course, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling.
The classic Coniston Old Man fell race had 59 entries, with Helm Hill running club providing four of the top five runners.
