Plans are underway at Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club for a huge £750,000 redevelopment to their Underley Park ground.

Once completed the work would see four entirely new pitches, eight new changing rooms and improvements made to the existing floodlights, grandstand, and road access to the ground.

While the club is already one of only 20 nationally to have the prestigious RFU level 3 seal of approval, the stunning development plan would see the South Lakes club become one of only two nationally to reach the RFU level 4 seal of approval, as the existing facilities are developed to meet the demands of the expanding mini, youth, and colts teams along with the established senior sides.

With the RFU, RFF and the South Lakeland District Council providing over half the money needed to fund the development work, the club have the challenge of raising the remaining funds themselves explained Chairman Richard Harkness, “ We are looking to raise £250,000 ourselves, we had a committee meeting last week in which several exciting idea’s were discussed and I’m sure we’ll be seeing those ideas realised soon.”
