Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s is looking for a new site in Kendal to build a new store.
The company had been looking at building at the town’s Canal Head site but this week it announced that the site would be no good.
“We’ve been keen to have a store in Kendal for some time but suitable sites are hard to come by,” said Sainsbury’s regional property executive Jo Try.
She said the Canal Head site would be no good for a food store.
She added: “We remain committed to finding a site in Kendal that will benefit the town as a whole and once we have identified a more suitable location we will of course be contacting the local community.”
