A WELL-known farmer and traditional Cumberland sausage producer has been hailed a hero.
Peter Gott, of Sillfield Farm, was nominated by the food writer Matthew Fort in the first ever BBC Countryfile Magazine Local Food Hero Awards.
Mr Gott is named as one of 20 'champions' of food in the feature, which celebrates people who aim to change the way people eat, helping them to source their produce and think about their food. They are voted for by a panel of experts including top chefs, TV personalities and food writers.
In nominating Mr Gott, Mr Fort said: “Peter’s passion is matched by a prodigious knowledge of the pig, how to farm it and what to do with it afterwards.”
Mr Gott's work is celebrated in the September issue of Countryfile Magazine.
