Ulverston at the Olympics

AN Ulverston-based visionary is all set to be a part of history this weekend when the Olympic flag is handed over to Great Britain ahead of London 2012.
Stephen Powell, creative director at Lanternhouse International, in Ulverston, is in charge of proceedings at the eight-minute handover ceremony in Beijing on Sunday as this year’s extraordinary games come to a close.
The exact details of the momentous show, which will be viewed by an estimated audience of 1.5 billion people, are being kept closely under wraps by London 2012 organisers.
