A MYSTERY sewage stink has been driving customers away from a South Lakeland wine shop.

Contractors are today trying to locate the source of the foul stench in Crescent Road, Windermere, which has adversely affected trade at the local Threshers branch.

Shop manager Anthony Dean said he started smelling sewage in the shop around 12 weeks ago, but the stink had become particularly bad over the past three weeks.

“It is so awful it has put people off coming into the shop. It’s been dreadful – absolutely horrendous.”

Today, contractors are spending their second day trying to find the source of the sewage leak. They say they are confident it has not been caused by the road works carried out as part of this year’s Windermere enhancement scheme.

Hi I would just like to point out that the sewage leak is coming from outside of the building. There is no risk to public health inside the store. I would not like poeple to read this artical and have even more customers put off shopping with us.
many thanks
anthony dean
