A POPULAR garden centre could be replaced by holiday homes if a planning authority approves a scheme which the owners hope will improve neighbourly relations.
Steve and Ruth Sowery have built Waterslack Garden Centre into such a successful business since they acquired the Silverdale site in 2003, that 30,000 visitors descended on the greenhouses, farm shop and tea-rooms last year.
But the volume of visitors sparked complaints from some neighbouring residents and now the couple are planning to ditch plans to develop the business further and build a series of holiday lodges on the land instead.
The couple are awaiting approval from Lancaster City Council planners.
