Staff at the Furness Owl Centre in Barrow have been thrown into uncertainty about the future of the centre after a break-in this week.

Police are appealing for information after thieves broke into the centre at Sandscale Park in Barrow.

They stole a small amount of cash and two small young Chaco owls each worth £400 between 5pm on Wednesday (August 27) and 9.15am on Thursday (August 28).

This is the sixth time in three years that the owl centre has suffered a break in and several birds have been stolen or killed.

Police say staff were upset and are now uncertain about the future of the centre.

I've a solution - borrow a couple of big cats from Dalton Zoo. There'll only be one more break-in....
