POLICE have confirmed that a man found collapsed beside a main road in Rydal died of natural causes.
Lifetime Ambleside resident, John Williamson, known locally as Johnny, was found beside the A591 in Rydal at 6pm on Friday, October 31.
Despite resuscitation attempts by police and paramedics, he sadly died at Royal Lancaster Infirmary later that evening.
Police initially sought information regarding the incident, but following a post mortem said the 80-year-old’s death was no longer being treated with suspicion.
Mr Williamson was a well known in Ambleside, having run the traditional barber’s shop on Kelsick Road for many years.
