COUNCIL taxpayers in Kendal face an inflation busting increase in the amount they pay for town council services.

Revealed in its budget for 2009/2010, Kendal Town Council intends to levy a council tax precept of £297,760 –a 21 per cent increase on the amount requested for the current financial year.

The increase, which is more than four times the current rate of inflation and equates to an annual fee of £28.53 per Band D household, will enable KTC to invest £30,000 into rejuvenating the town’s parks and open spaces, which were recently described as looking “somewhat tired” by Britain in Bloom Judges.
