A SPORTS facility for young people in Ulverston will still be built after residents put together a petition calling for the project to be dropped.
The Multi Use Games Area will be created on land at Lune Terrace, next to the town’s Honeypot Estate, after members of South Lakeland District Council heard children in the area were “desperate” for facilities.
The decision was made at a meeting of South Lakeland District Council's cabinet today (Wednesday).
SLDC's policy officer, Jenny Draper, dismissed claims it would lead to anti-social behaviour and instead described it as a "terrific opportunity".
