A CUMBRIAN organisation is to enjoy a slice of £22million of European cash which has been set aside to help the unemployed get back into work.
Impact Housing Association will share the money with 31 other groups and plans to use it on its Greenways to Work project - a three year scheme which aims to promote job opportunities in renewable energy, energy efficiency and recycling.
Employment minister Tony McNulty, who announced the grants on Thursday, said: “We want to provide real help for unemployed people. This extra money will support people on their journey back to work and make sure they have the right skills for the jobs available.”
Impact is expected to receive the money by the end of June.
