Police search for land rover thief

POLICE are searching for a man thought to be involved in a spate of Land Rover thefts in Cumbria and north Lancashire.

Officers are keen to trace a male seen abandoning a blue Land Rover Defender on Gulfs Road, in Kendal on Friday May 15.

The man - thought to be from the Merseyside area and described as white, 5ft 7” tall, with short hair and a blue jacket - was last seen fleeing Gulfs Road on foot at approximately 3.50am following a police pursuit of a four vehicle convoy.

Three men from Merseyside were charged with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles.

Officers dedicated to Operation Sebury - which was launched to tackle a spate of burglaries in the area - want to trace the fourth man in connection with these thefts.

Cumbria Police and Merseyside Police carried out a warranted search in the Fazakerley area of Merseyside yesterday (May 22) where they recovered further evidence that connects the group to a spate of land rover thefts in Cumbria and north Lancashire.

Detective Inspector Banks, leading the investigation, is urging the public to come forward with more information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.

Anyone with information should contact Cumbria Police on 08453300247 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
