From sparks to fire for Kendal man

A KENDAL electrician has given up his day job to live his dream - and is feeling the heat.

Tim Maston, 31, had has ditched his profession as an electrician to become a full-time fire performer and circus agent.

Prior to becoming the ‘juggling inferno’, Tim had worked as an electrician by day and fire juggler by night but he decideded to pursue his long-term hobby as a career.

Tim, who lives on Kendal Green, said he has not looked back and is glad that his love for fire juggling has become his career.

He said: "I've been an electrician since I was 16 and have been self-employed as a fire juggler for almost three years.

"I was introduced to fire juggling while I was back packing around Australia.

I was instantly hooked and began practicing every day.

“After a year or so of considering it purely a hobby, I began to do the odd show.

"I was lucky enough to meet some other performers who advised and helped me along the way and my skills and business has grown from there.

"I am so thrilled to be able to concentrate fully on what I love doing most.

He added: “My first performances were at weddings and parites but my first big performance was in front of Elle Macpherson and her family - yes I was nervous.

"I still get nervous but nowhere near as when I started out.

“I have had minor burns and a few bust lips but nothing serious.”

Tim now performs all over the UK and traveled to Mumbai last year to perform at a catwalk show.
