Talented youngsters to make debut performance

A GROUP of talented youngsters is set to make its debut performance at a South Lakeland church.

The Kendal Boys Choir will entertain an audience at Kendal Parish Church on Tuesday (July 14) during a half-hour musical delight.

The eight members, aged six to nine, have been practising every Tuesday since the choir formed in January.

Mark Swinton, organist and musical director at the church, which also boasts a successful robed choir, said: “They have taken to it really well. They sing in three parts, which is particularly impressive for boys of that age.

“I have high hopes they will be a worthwhile addition to the town’s musical scene.”

The choir, which is led by Mr Swinton and Holly Martin, the church’s children and family co-ordinator, was set up to introduce boys in Kendal to basic musical skills while having fun.

Mr Swinton promised there will be something for everyone to enjoy including both sacred and secular songs and even some in French and Western African.

Admission is free and the performance will start at 5.30pm.
