A COUNCIL blunder which meant motorists could park illegally on a busy South Lakeland street has been put right after months of waiting.
Cumbria County Council put two signs on Main Street in Kirkby Lonsdale - one telling drivers they couldn't park between Monday and Saturday, 9am until 6pm, and another restricting them seven days a week, from 8am.
Because of the anomaly South Lakeland District Council was unable to enforce either set of restrictions - but despite the authority asking its county counterpart to act, it didn't.
Now, after The Westmorland Gazette reported shopkeepers' fury at the blunder, CCC has launched an 'investigation' and replaced the incorrect sign.
"All they needed was to send someone out with a screwdriver. It was easy enough," said coun Paul Stephenson.
