A LOCAL green-thinking group has welcomed new Government plans to cut the level of harmful emissions in the country.
Members of Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS) believe the UK Low Carbon Transition Plan, which outlines how the Government intends to cut carbon emissions by 34 per cent by 2020 and by 80 per cent by 2050.
Diane Hubbard, of Cumbria Action for Sustainability, said Cumbria was helping England to lead the way.
“There is already so much going on with small scale renewable energy in Cumbria, which is not appreciated,” she said.
The charity is currently planning the Green Build Festival, in October, and there are likely to be about 100 free events around the county.
Mrs Hubbard added: “Cumbria Green Build Festival gives the general public and small businesses an opportunity to see a wide range of complete projects first hand.”
