A MOTHER-OF-THREE assaulted her neighbour for writing offensive comments about her on a social networking website, a court was told.

Chantelle Bayman, 33, of Aysgarth Close, Kendal, admitted entering Laura Beaumont’s home at Moss Ghyll without her permission and attacking her and her boyfriend.

Lisa O’Loughlin, prosecuting, said Bayman, who had drunk 15 cans of lager and two shots of vodka prior to the assault on July 18, jumped on Miss Beaumont, pulled her hair and shouted offensive remarks.

Magistrates in Kendal also heard how Bayman punched the victim’s partner, Robert Hodson, in the face.

Referring to a police interview, Miss Loughlin said: “Miss Bayman admitted she becomes violent when she drinks vodka and said she didn’t remember much about the incident because she was so drunk.”

Mitigating, Rachel Broughton, said Bayman had sought help for her alcohol problem and was very apologetic.

She said Bayman was under a lot of stress as she was in danger of losing her home and was concerned about her children's future.

“She totally accepts that what she did on this occasion was totally unacceptable,” she said. “It resulted from derogatory comments made about her on Facebook. It was a silly set of circumstances and she fully accepts that.”

The case was adjourned until August 25 for pre-sentence reports.
