A MAN who drove at excessive speeds in a 30 miles per hour zone in Windermere has been disqualified for seven days.
Richard Downes, 37, of Priory Grange, Windermere, drove his BMW 3 Series at 51mph on Rayrigg Road in the village on February 13.
At South Lakeland Magistrates Court in Kendal, Downes, who previously had a clean driving licence, admitted the speed was excessive, adding: “I understand the importance of speed limits and, as a father of two, I have thought very hard about this.”
Downes received a weeklong driving ban and was ordered to pay a £350 fine, court costs of £50 and a victim’s surcharge of £15.
