Riding - Victoria and Cheeky take top CHAPS award


SIXTEEN-year-old Victoria Brooks from Holme had an outstanding CHAPS Championship Show at Arena UK, Grantham.

Victoria rode Kath Allen’s five-year-old coloured pony Millpond Look So Cheeky to take the overall ridden supreme of show award.

Victoria won the junior ridden supreme (and the Horse of the Year class), the hunter pony, the open ridden coloured and was second in the performance working hunter and reserve champion.

Earlier, Victoria had clinched another HOY ticket at Granthan when third in the qualifer on Allen’s four-year-old Morrington Cairn Hivan.

Havin had excellent three seconds and a third in the other classes.

Katy Heginbotham, from Barrows Green, won the Pretty Polly 137cm working hunter with Chiddock Spot Check.

Katy, who is going to St Andrew’s University, has qualified for HOYs at the North of England Show and was sixth in the Premier League and eighth in the Brindley Open.

She also competed in the Ponies UK Evening Pony Champiosnhip at Burghley and was an excellent sixth from the 35 starters.

Katy’s young brother Williamsreturned to the seddle after a lapse of five years and had some good placings with Meynell Midnight View.

Alasdair Pricket from Farleton rode My Man Dan to third in the Advance nursery stakes, while Glen Allen from Kendal picked up some good placings with his prolific winner Stoak Song.
