Soldier admits blame for fiancee's Keswick road death

A soldier has admitted being to blame for the death of his fiancee in a crash on a road near Keswick.

Staff Sergeant Sean Arundale, 35, of the Royal Engineers, lost control of his Jaguar and crashed into an oncoming car when it hit a puddle on the A591 at Dunmail Raise.

His girlfriend, Victoria Baines, 38, died.

At Carlisle Crown Court Arundale, of Stockton-on-Tees, pleaded guilty to causing her death by careless driving.

He was remanded on bail for background reports and will be sentenced on November 27.
