Kendal Wattsfield's Ladies continued their unbeaten start to the season with a fine 7-1 win over Crown Newlaithes from Carlisle.
After a couple of inactive weeks, Kendal Wattsfield were slow to get going However despite the slow start KW gradually got into their stride. And on 20 minutes KW opened the scoring after Joanne Thompson followed up a Faye Armstrong shot to finish from close range.
The goals then started to come at regular intervals for the rest of the half.
Michelle Raven made it 2 after her cross evaded everyone and crept in at the back post, 2-0 then became 3 as Hannah Crosdale swept in another cross from the right.
With KW in a commanding 3-0 lead, Lauren Downham added a 4th before half time pouncing on Crown Newlaithes failure to clear a corner to finish clinically past the keeper.
Making several changes at half time seemed to upset KW’s rhythm and Crown N created several scoring opportunities in the 2nd half withouh troubling stand in keeper Nikita Morton.
Despite Crown Newlaithes good play KW could have gone further ahead after being awarded a penalty for hand ball. However the penalty was missed as the visiting keeper made a good save.
However as the half went on KW finished stronger, with Faye Armstrong making it 5 after latching onto a through ball to fire past the keeper.
Crown Newlaithes kept going and pulled one back when Tasha Scott finished from inside the penalty box, but Grania Shankleys powerful shot on 86 minutes made it 6 before Brooke Kenny sealed a good win diverting a wayward shot into the goal making the score 7-1.
