FORMER Olympic triple jump champion Jonathan Edwards CBE will be at the Lakes School at Troutbeck Bridge on Friday, November 27.
Edwards is visiting Cumbria in his capacity as Deputy Chair of the London 2-12 Nations and Regions Group.
As well as speaking and presenting at the Cumbria Sports Awards during the evening, Edwards will be involved in a whole day of activities.
He will speak at the Cumbria 2012 Conference on the morning followed by a meeting with young sports leaders at The Lakes School and Specialist Sports College in the afternoon.
Another Olympian Alison Mowbray, the rowing silver medallist, is the after-dinner speaker at the Cumbria Sports Awards at the Low Wood Hotel near Windermere.
Alison was on the British Rowing team for seven years and competed in five World Champion-ships and two Olympic Games.
In 1997 Alison, aged 29, made the British rowing team and two years later she qualified for the Sydney Olympics, where she finished 10th in the single sculls event. Tickets are available for the awards night via the Cumbria Sport website.
