Cumbria flooding: River levels in South Lakeland starting to fall

RIVER levels in South Lakeland have started to drop as the weather picks up after heavy overnight rain.

South Lakeland District Council have been monitoring Stockbeck reservoir and levels have started to fall.

Water levels in the River Kent at Kendal and Burneside have also started to drop.

However there are still concerns of the amount of water on high ground that is entering the water courses and flows remaining very strong.

River Derwent and River Eden are expected to remain high for at least the next twelve hours.

SLDC's contact centre stayed open throughout the night and took 18 calls from members of the public concerned about flooding.
