THE body of a missing woman was found in the River Lune two days after her disappearance.
Janet Pritchard’s family have paid tribute to a ‘loving and hard working mother’.
Police said there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
Officers also stressed her disappearance was not linked to the floods.
Mrs Pritchard, of Main Street, Kirkby Lonsdale, had been missing for two days when a canoeist found her in the swollen waters on the outskirts of Lancaster on Saturday.
Police had carried out door-to-door inquiries in her hometown after the family reported her missing on Friday, and Kendal Mountain Rescue Team was drafted in to search the banks of the river on Saturday, to no avail.
Mrs Pritchard, who was 50, had three children Tony, Andrew and Sharlene, two stepchildren Christopher and Arron, and a grandaughter Kelly.
Helen Teasdale, one of her four siblings, who runs HT News in Kirkby, said she would be ‘sadly missed by all the family’.
An inquest will be opened at Kendal’s County Hall on Friday at 9am.
