FIRE crews from Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale have put out a house fire in Mansergh.
The fire started at 8pm last night (Tuesday, December 22) as embers from an open fire spread from the chimney to the Lane End building’s wooden beams.
Officers put out the blaze by breaking into the chimney.
Tony Harrison, watch manager at Kendal Fire Station, said: “People using open fires should be extremely careful. They should make sure the chimney is clear and should have it sweeped once or twice a year, particularly if they are burning wood.”
