POLICE have charged two men overnight with burglaries from South Lakeland filling stations and shops.
John Gordon, 26, from Broxtowe Lane, Aspley, Nottingham, is jointly charged with Mark Bushell, 19. of Detford Crescent, Nottingham,and will appear at South Lakeland Magistrates' Court, Kendal,on Boxing Day.
They are charged with burglary at Newlands garage, Ulverston, on December 23 when £3,000 of tobacco was stolen, and burglary at Booths, Windermere, on December 16 when £3,000 of cigarettes was also taken.
Both men also face a charge of burglary with intent at Bookers cash and carry at Barrow.
A police spokesman said that officers were also keen on tracing three to four other males that made off from the Greystones filling station at Witherslack on December 23. They are slso interested in the movements of a blue Ford Mondeo and a yellow Passatt that they believe may have been travelling in convoy.
