TWO people have died and a third is left seriously injured in hospital following an incident on the M6 on Christmas Day.

A Vauxhall Corsa, containing the three people, left the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junctions 35 and 34 at around 7.45pm yesterday.

The car collided with trees and overturned. Two of the occupants were found dead by emergency services. The third has been taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Both carriageways of the M6 were closed for five hours as an investigation was conducted into the incident.
